A day at Sentosa Island, Singapore

A trip to Singapore can never be complete without spending a day at Sentosa Island which is the premier recreational respite of Singapore. It is a private world of splendid serenity, surrounded by rolling hills. Sentosa means peaceful and tranquil in Malay and a visit to Sentosa really gives a different feel to all the visitors.

REACHING THE RESORT
There are many options to reach Sentosa from the Singapore mainland. You can either reach there via Sentosa Express monorail (opened in 2007 only) or go for Cable Car ride which is the most exciting option. Originating from Mount Faber and passing through HarbourFront en route, Cable Car ride to reach the Sentosa resort is a treat in itself.

Once you reach Sentosa, you will have to take tram or bus services to reach the actual spot. However, even passenger cars are permitted entry to the island.

ATTRACTIONS AT SENTOSA
The island resort of Sentosa has endless varieties of attractions including several museums and other recreation and entertainment facilities for the visitors.

Tiger Sky Tower
Previously known as the Carlsberg Sky Tower, the Tiger Sky Tower is a free-standing tower at Sentosa. This 110 metre high observation tower gives you an opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of Sentosa, Singapore and its surrounding islands.

Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom
This landscape garden offers a range of more than 15,000 live butterflies, representing around 50 species. It gives a real pleasure to watch these butterflies, sizing from the 25 mm (Eurema sari) to the 150 mm (Papilio iswara) all housed in this cool outdoor conservatory. Do not miss the famous Insect Kingdom that offers around 3,000 species of rare insects from around the world.

Underwater World and Dolphin Lagoon
Opened in 1991, the Underwater World at Sentosa holds an unmatched charm for all the visitors. Having more than 2,500 marine and fresh-water animals of 250 species from different regions, viewable from the 83 metre long glass-windowed tunnel, this oceanarium attracts a large number of visitors to this island resort.
Enjoy watching marine animals like sharks, moray eels, turtles, from behind the glass wall. Visitors can also participate in ‘Dive-with-the sharks’ program along with qualified scuba-divers. Dolphin Lagoon is another attraction at the Underwater World where you can enjoy ‘Meet-the-Dolphins’ sessions and also swim with them.

Songs of the Sea
The Songs of the Sea show is the world’s only permanent show set in the sea – boasting spectacular pyrotechnics displays, a live cast and an open-air viewing gallery which can comfortably accommodate 2,500 visitors. So get ready to fall under the spell of the Songs of the Sea.

Sentosa 4D Magix
