Moving around New Delhi

Being the capital of India, New Delhi Transport is quite organized and operated systematically. All important cities of India are very well linked up with New Delhi by National highways, railways and airlines. Main public transport in New Delhi
Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is the main public transporter of Delhi. The most part of Delhi public travels through Delhi Transport to reach out to their different destinations or work places. Delhi has three Inter State Bus Terminals (ISBT) that offer regular bus services to connect with every corner of the city.

Besides the government-run DTC bus service, private bus services are also available throughout the city. While government buses run on scheduled time, these private buses are generally available at an interval of every five to ten minutes. For the convenience of working people, privately-owned chartered bus also run on office timings. Compared to government and other private buses, the chartered buses take lesser time to cover long distances. (They charge a little higher though!)

Other Transport facilities in Delhi
Metered taxis, auto-rickshaws and budget private cars on rent are the other transport facilities in Delhi. However, rates for the taxis keep changing from time to time but even then it is the most availed transport in New Delhi. Some auto-rickshaw drivers and taxi drivers might quote very high price. So remember to ride a metered taxi or take a pre-paid taxi if you are visiting the city for the first time.

New Delhi also has a good railway network. In order to cater to the needs of daily travelers who go to the nearby places for work, it runs EMU (Engine Multiple Units). EMU facility can be availed at the different railway stations in the city.

Delhi Metro is the latest charm to Delhi transport system. Maintained by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, this rapid transit system had begun in 2003.Since then people are regularly enjoying the luxury of metro service for commuting to their destinations. Take a cycle-rickshaw ride
Though MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) has tried many times to ban them, these hand-driven cycle-rickshaws are still seen in some old areas of Delhi. In fact while visiting Chandni Chowk, it is the best option to explore the area. Foreigners can often be seen enjoying a cycle-rickshaws ride along with kids.
